BALLUTA BUILDINGS SCARF

This scarf features a print originally designed for the 'Fashion & Architecture | A Seamless Relationship' capsule collection, unveiled at the esteemed MASP Awards held in April 2023.

The custom print reflects our interpretation of the intricate decorative layers adorning the entire façade of the Balluta Buildings. The print particularly features the prominent green shutters that create an interesting and eye-catching element, while being thoughtfully designed to blend harmoniously with the overall ornamentation of the building. Through the design of the print, we sought to preserve the balanced composition and unity that struck us when studying the façade.

Notably, three prominent long vertical arched openings stand out, casting captivating shadows and adding depth to the façade. These dark spaces, evoking a sense of mystery and contrast against the lavish Art Nouveau ornamentation, serve as the inspiration for the scarf's striking black background. In addition to the striking print, the scarf boasts a red hand-rolled hem, symbolizing the red wrought iron details found throughout the Balluta Buildings. 

Another salient feature incorporated in the print is the lettering ‘BALLUTA’ and ‘BUILDINGS’ featured on the top cornices of the left and right towers. Apart from contributing to the building’s overall aesthetic and character, it plays a crucial role in conveying the building's identity.
